Public space is where communal culture is created. Places with abundant public space are happier and safer. Increasing access to public space must be a priority for towns and cities everywhere.

This photo collection from around the world captures a variety of public spaces from large to small, busy to quiet, mostly successful (although we've thrown a dud or two in there as well.) Given that the best public space for connecting people is car-free and centrally-located the below photos mainly capture pedestrianized streets and squares as opposed to parks and sidewalks.

Feel free to use these images in your own work. Unless another source is specified please credit all images to Plaza Perspective.com. Images labeled "SU" are Source/photographer Unknown. Email adam@agreenfield.org to add photos to this collection or to assist with photo credits.
